# About Woof & Beyond

Woof & Beyond is a reference library for dog owners. Every guide here answers one question — the kind you type into a search bar at eleven at night because your dog has started doing something you have never seen before.

## Where it came from

The site was started in 2020 by a French Bulldog owner and written over the following three years. Most of the guides began as a question that came up at home first and turned out to have no clear answer anywhere online — how long a dog can reasonably hold its bladder, why a puppy stops eating from its bowl, what to bring when you collect a dog from a breeder.

## How to read it

Each guide is dated, and the date it was last updated sits at the top of the page. Where a guide covers something a vet should see, it says so. Nothing here replaces an examination by someone who can put hands on your dog.

Some guides link to products on Amazon. Those links are marked, and Woof & Beyond earns a commission if you buy through one. That never changes what a guide recommends.

## On training

The training guides favour reward-based methods: mark the behaviour you want, pay for it, and manage the environment so the behaviour you do not want is hard to practise. It is what the evidence supports and it is what holds up over the life of a dog.

Looking for a breed rather than an answer? The [Dog Breed Explorer](https://www.woofandbeyond.com/dog-breed-explorer) compares 510 breeds by height, weight, group, origin and life expectancy in one table.
