# Do Dogs Have Lips?

Yes.

**Dogs have both upper lips (called “flews”) and lower lips.**

The lips may be harder to see on some dog breeds with [large jowls](https://zooawesome.com/home-pets/what-are-dog-jowls/) (the loose skin on the cheeks and throat). These breeds include Bloodhounds, Saint Bernards, and Labrador Retrievers, among many others.

_To see the lips, you may have to pull back the jowls a bit. I can assure you they are there._
