Lady’s breed is often confused with a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. However, she has a docked tail and fluffy fur, which give away her true breed - an American Cocker Spaniel. Lady was inspired by Disney’s writer Joe Grant’s English Springer Spaniel, which looked like a Cocker Spaniel and called Lady. Licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0 ## Tramp **Tramp is a [Schnauzer](https://dogtime.com/dog-breeds/standard-schnauzer)-terrier mix.** While Lady is pure-bred, Tramp is a mutt (mixed-breed). In the “Lady and the Tramp” live-action film from 2019, he is portrayed by a Schnauzer-terrier rescue dog named Monte. Tramp was inspired after Walt Disney read a short story called “Happy Dan the Cynical Dog”.
